The Idler Choir with Choir Master Tom Williams

Dates: Monday 8th January to Monday 19th March, with a break on Monday 12th February for half term.

Time: 7 – 9pm

Place: Upstairs at The Mason’s Arms, 665 Harrow Rd, Kensal Green, London NW10 5NU

Duration: Ten weeks

This choir is a community venture to unite Idlers and locals from the surrounding community. All are welcome and no previous choral experience is necessary.

Tom Williams is one of London’s top choirmasters, based at St Martin’s in The Fields, and while he’ll be teaching you seriously, the Idler choir is informal and a lot of fun.

Tom will be joined by guest members of his professional early music group, The Erebus Ensemble, and special guest conductors to add their insights into the wonderful world of choral singing. Whether you’re an experienced singer or completely new to the idea, you’re bound to find something of interest in this varied repertory.

At the end of term we will perform a concert for friends and family in collaboration with The Idler Academy Ukuulele Ensemble Group.

Repertoire: this term we’ll be learning Elgar’s “As Torrents”, the Renaissance tune “Now is the Gentle Season”, “Total Eclipse of the Heart” and “Autumn Leaves” – all in four part harmony.
