The Idler Spring Party stars Mik Artistik’s Ego Trip, Murray Lachlan Young, Gloria and DJ Youth.
We have brought together a fantastic cornucopia of musical and poetic delights for our spring party.
We’ve been putting Mik Artistik on at festivals for many years now, and take it from us, he never disappoints.
He is the George Formby of our day, a purveyor of comic songs, delivered with wit and panache. You’ve never seen so much joy as in the audience at a Mik gig.
Their mix of rock ’n’ roll & dry West Yorkshire wit is unique. Now we are bringing them to London.
“As mad as a wasp trapped under a pint glass,” BBC 6Music Presenter Shaun Keaveny
“Sensational,” John Cooper Clarke
Mik will be joined by the sun-soaked psychedelia of Gloria. Fronted by three female vocalists singing in harmonies, this French six piece make sparkly, atmospheric, and wonderfully familiar 60s girl-group inspired music. Think The Shanghri-Las, The Castaways and The Pretty Things. Gloria are unmissable!
“I am in love with this band and I think you will be too”, Lauren Laverne, BBC6 Music
Gloria released their debut LP In Excelsis Stereo in 2016 to critical acclaim in France. This March, they release Oîdophon Echorama on London’s Ample Play Records. The Idler Spring Party is part of their first ever UK tour.
“The Ronettes-on-Acid,” The 405
“I have been playing these non-stop!” Amy Lamé, BBC 6 Music
We at the Idler have long been fans of Murray Lachlan Young, BBC 6 Music’s poet in residence and author of the bestselling collection How Freakin’ Zeitgeist Are You?, and we’re not the only ones. Rhys Ifans loves “his exquisite wordsmithery, his sublime observations and the joyous smile of recognition that stretches across my heart each time I read or hear his laser musings!” And Chrissie Hynde called him “a rock ‘n’ roll poet of our time”.
Legend DJ Youth of Killing Joke fame will be playing dancehall vibes into the night.
The fun will take place at the luxuriously appointed Bush Hall in west London. Your ticket price includes a 15% discount on pre-party dinner at the next door Bush Diner.
