A day of Taxidermy with Mabel Edwards РAfter a hugely popular September and December course Mabel returns to The Idler in 2015

Date: Sunday 15th February 2015

Time: 12 – 4pm

The class teaches you all the basic steps of taxidermy so whether you want to create your own masterpiece or just learn a little more about the process, this class is the perfect introduction. This class is instructed by fine art taxidermist Mabel Edwards, who will guide you step by step in a comprehensive and easy to understand manner.

The class is structured to help you create a life-like mount of a mouse but students are free to bring any miniature props with them if they prefer the Walter Potter tradition of anthropomorphic taxidermy! A small selection of props will also be provided.

No former experience is necessary. Please note that we use no harsh or dangerous chemicals during this class and all students are provided with gloves. All animals are disease free and no animals were killed for this class. All mice are feeder animals for snakes and lizards. Although there will not be a lot of blood and gore, taxidermy is not for everyone and students are asked to consider this before booking their place.

Mabel Edwards is a fine art taxidermist based in West London, and incorporates modern dynamics to this antiquated craft. She creates playful works of art featuring unique, contemporary bejewelled taxidermy.

About the Tutor

Mabel started incorporating taxidermy into her artwork from 2011 after studying fashion for a National Diploma in which she achieved a triple distinction.

She is predominantly self-taught in the practice though she complies with all the regulations of The UK Guild Of Taxidermists, adhering to its strict rules on the sourcing and treatment of the animals used.
