Idler Dinners at The Elgin
On the last Wednesday of the month at the Elgin in Maida Vale, the Idler magazine will bring together a great collection of writers, speakers and musicians for an evening of fun and feasting. Editor Tom Hodgkinson and Idler Academy director Victoria Hull will be your hosts. The ticket includes dinner and a glass of wine or craft ale.
For the April edition of our monthly Idler Dinner, we are delighted to welcome actor Dominic West, actress Anna Chancellor and lyricist Chris Difford.
Idler fan Dominic West is an award-winning English actor, musician and director. Acclaimed star of The Wire, his other television credits include Appropriate Adult, for which he won a BAFTA award, and The Affair, which garnered him a Golden Globe nomination.
He lives in London with his wife and children.
Anna Chancellor is an English television, film and theatre actress. Nominated for multiple BAFTA and Olivier awards, she is best known for her roles in the series Kavanagh QC, the BBC adaptation of Price and Prejudice and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. More recently, she was awarded a BAFTA for her role in the BBC serial The Hour.
Double Ivor Novello Award-winning lyricist Chris Difford has brought us characters and sketches from everyday life, turning the mundane into the beautiful, the urbane into the exquisite, for over 30 years. With his partner, collaborator, friend and Squeeze co-founder Glenn Tilbrook, Chris has written some of the most enduring and best-loved songs of our time for the band Squeeze. One of the country’s most respected songwriter, he has co-written with a host of musicians and performers that reads like a veritable who’s who of the industry – Elton John, Trilok Gurtu, Marti Pellow, Lamont Dozier, Willie Mitchell, Bryan Ferry Jools Holland and Paul Carrack.
