There was looting last night in Notting Hill and we don’t think it is sensible to ask people to come out tonight. We are rescheduling and will let you know later what day Giles Abbott can come back.
THIS EVENT NOW SOLD OUT.
THERE ARE STILL TICKETS LEFT FOR HARRY MOUNT ON WEDNESDAY
To celebrate the opening day of the Idler Academy, we have organized a special one-off symposium on classical philosophy, on Tuesday 1st of March, 6.45pm.
The symposium in ancient Greece was a sort of literary dinner party, at which important topics such as love were discussed.
This is your chance to get an introduction to the work of the greatest classical philosophers, in the convivial setting of the Idler Academy. During this symposium, expert Mark Vernon and Idler editor Tom Hodgkinson will teach you about the ancient Greek philosophers.
The symposium will be presented in two halves. In the first half, we will examine the philosophers who preceded Socrates, and Socrates himself, as well as Plato and Aristotle. In the second half, we will look at the schools that folllowed, such as the Stoics, the Epicureans, the Cynics and the Sceptics.
This is our first event and is bound to be a legendary night, so book early.
(Note: this one-off symposium replaces the series of classes previously advertised).
Price: £25 plus VAT. Includes wine and finger food. BOOK NOW.
